The Civil GPS Service Interface Committee (CGSIC) is the recognized worldwide forum for effective interaction between all civil GPS users and the U.S. GPS authorities. The CGSIC is chaired by the U.S. Department of Transportation. The U.S. Coast Guard Navigation Center (NAVCEN) coordinates and manages the administration of the committee as Deputy Chair and Executive Secretariat.
Purpose

Public Participation
CGSIC meets annually and is open to anyone interested in civil GPS issues. Membership is free, and there is no fee to attend any CGSIC meeting. CGSIC includes members from U.S. and international private, government, and industry user groups.
Subcommittees
CGSIC has four subcommittees that focus on specific user groups:
CGSIC's role and the value gained in the ICG
The CGSIC acts as a representative for the world's civil GPS users and advocates for the civil use of GPS in a number of U.S. and international forums. Also, under the auspices of CGSIC, the U.S. Coast Guard Navigation Center publishes operations information related to the GPS program and acts as an operational civil liaison between the world's civil users of GPS and the GPS authorities. It is in this capacity that CGSIC attends meetings of the ICG as an Associate Member.
Having performed civil GPS operations since 1986, the CGSIC is a mature model of a GNSS user representative. CGSIC acts as the embodiment of "Transparency" for the GPS program at ICG meetings providing presentations regarding organization and operations of the U.S. GPS program in support of the civil user. Due to CGSIC's role as an information portal to and from the world's users of GPS, the CGSIC is a member of Working Group-C (Information Dissemination and Capacity Building). Also, as the point of contact for civil GPS disruption or interference reports, the CGSIC/NAVCEN represents the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in all matters having to do with techniques for standardization of GNSS interference reporting and information sharing between Provider GNSS service centers.
