United Nations/Kenya Conference on Space Technology and Applications for Wildlife Management and Protecting Biodiversity

To address the growing demand for space-based information and space technologies such as Earth Observation of satellite positioning for biodiversity monitoring and wildlife management, in particular. As a first workshop on these topics in Africa, a special session might also address specificities of coastal ecosystems observations. Interests of the host Government, UNEP and other international organizations will be considered in setting the agenda, with international experts drawn from pools such as the Conservation Remote Sensing group. Recent advancements in this domain will be presented, and specific needs in Africa will be identified for further action in better applying benefits of space technologies in the biodiversity domain.
