Access to Space for All - Education Component -

Introduction

KiboCUBE Academy is an activity under the educational component of the Access to Space for All initiative. This cooperation is between UNOOSA and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) , with the support of UNISEC Global. KiboCUBE Academy provides theoretical knowledge to develop, operate, and utilize small satellites for future KiboCUBE applicants, but also to anyone who is interested in CubeSat development.

In October 2025, we will organize an on-site workshop in Sydney, Australia, using a CubeSat training kit (HEPTA-sat). Students can learn the basic subsystems of satellite including structure, electrical power supply, command and data handling,  communication, ground station, and sensors as well as learn how to integrate those subsystems to create a working satellite as a whole.

Overview

Schedule: Saturday, 4 October 2025, 9:00-18:00 (AEST, UTC+10)
This workshop will be held after the 76th International Astronautical Congress (IAC2025).

Location: UNSW Sydney, Kensington Campus (Sydney, Australia)

Lecturer: Dr. Masahiko Yamazaki, Associate Professor, Nihon University

Lecture Content:
HEPTA-sat is a CubeSat training tool developed by Prof. Yamazaki from Nihon University in Japan for hands-on study of satellite-engineering. By taking a course with this kit, students can learn the basic subsystems of satellite including structure, electrical power supply, command and data handling, communication, ground station, and sensors as well as learn how to integrate those subsystems to create a working satellite as a whole.

Working Language: English
