Accessing Space with the ISS Bartolomeo Platform

The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and Airbus Defence and Space GmbH are pleased to announce a programme that provides an opportunity for the deployment of a payload using Airbus Bartolomeo external platform on the International Space Station. The mission will be open to all Member States of the United Nations, and developing countries are particularly encouraged to participate. The platform will accommodate and operate payloads provided by institutions in the participating countries.

Awardees


The first round of the Bartolomeo opportunity opened in 2020, the awardee of the 1st round is a team from Egypt Space Agency, Kenya Space Agency and Uganda Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation!

Partner


Airbus Defence and Space is an internationally operating company in the aerospace industry and its business is to design, manufacture and delivering aerospace products, services and solutions to customers. Airbus offers a new and unique payload hosting opportunity operated aboard the International Space Station (ISS), the Bartolomeo platform attached to the European Columbus Module. The ISS is a human-tended space facility orbiting at around 400 kilometres above the ground with six crew members on board.
