The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs and Avio S.p.A. (Avio) have joined forced at the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly to announce an agreement to cooperate on providing institutions from UN Member States, in particular developing countries.

Awardees


UNOOSA and Avio S.p.A. have selected a consortium led by the University of Nairobi in Kenya, joined by the University of Arizona from the United States of America and the non-profit organization Space Trust as the first awardee of the 'Accessing space with Vega C' programme.

Avio S.p.A is an established Launch System Provider. AVIO has been working in space for more than 50 years. AVIO has also been successfully running propellant, filament wound structures and integration plants for 30 years and currently operates the Vega launch pad at Guiana Space Centre (CSG), French Guiana with a launch rate of up to four launches per year.
