The 1 st open informal session on "Education and training in space-related areas: challenges and opportunities in the UN system" was held on 23 January 2004 in Geneva in conjunction with the 24 th session of the United Nation Inter-Agency Meeting on Outer Space Activities.
The session was organized by the Office for Outer Space Affairs in cooperation with the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO).
Presentations were made by a representative of China and representatives of the Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), World Meteorological Organization (WMO), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), United Nations Institute for Training and Research Operational Satellite Applications Programme (UNOSAT), and the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
