How can Space-based technologies support global health
issues?
Epidemics or health issues caused by factors such as pollution do not stop at national borders. Satellite imagery, global navigation satellite systems and geographic information systems make it easier to integrate ecological, environmental and other data to predict the spread of infectious diseases such as malaria and dengue fever. In rural or remote areas, tele-medicine based on satellite communication can even help people get specialist treatment and save lives.
