Guests had a chance to learn about UNOOSA's  Space Applications Programme, see a real clinostat used in  Zero-Gravity Experiments, take a picture with a model of  India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) and the First Polish Scientific Satellite (BRITE) and meet with UNOOSA's Expert on Space Applications, veteran astronaut  Takao Doi.

The open day welcomed more than 1000 guests of all ages and was a great success in engaging the public in its activities.

This year Austria also celebrates 60 years since entering the United Nations a member state. Austria became a member of the United Nations on 14 December 1955, together with several other States. Since then, Austria has been an active member of the United Nations and has contributed significantly to its work. The Vienna International Centre (VIC) hosts a number of different UN institutions.
