The BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) has played an important role in offering efficient positioning, timing, communication services and differential GPS information in surveying, telecommunications, transportation, meteorology, forest fire prevention, disaster forecast and public security areas. On the basis of the BeiDou Navigation Test System, China built a system with global coverage.
