Through the project, UNOOSA is able to provide tailor-made assistance to requesting UN Member States to draft or revise their national space law and/or policies to be in line with the international normative frameworks applicable to outer space activities. Such capacity-building supports new and emerging spacefaring nations to conduct space activities responsibly and sustainably, and promotes the long-term sustainability of outer space activities. The Global Space Law Project conducts its legal advisory services in four stages over 12 months. Each service is tailored to the specific request to the project and the process takes several months to ensure a high-quality, impactful service.
Stage 1) Country Assessment and Legal Baseline.
Stage 2) Tailor-made course development;
Stage 3) Deliver 2-3 days on-site technical advisory mission;
Stage 4) Follow-up and evaluation.
