From 29 to 30 October 2024, UNOOSA, upon the request from the Chilean Air Force, delivered the Space Law Technical Advisory Mission targeted and tailored for the governmental authorities of Chile. This in-person legal advisory mission featured various central aspects of importance of international and regional cooperation, fundamental principles of international space law, and mechanisms for developing national regulatory and policy frameworks. The mission focused on the legal aspects of establishing a national space agency, with various national and regional examples being presented. The Space Law Technical Advisory Mission, which aimed at having a dialogue of governmental entities, was attended by more than 62 experts from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chilean Air Force, the Chilean Navy; as well as representatives of 5 universities, other organizations and institutions, including from the private space sector. Furthermore, representatives of Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Kenya and the United States of America were in attendance. Experts from Azerbaijan, Brazil, Liechtenstein, Spain, United Arab Emirates and the United States of America shared their knowledge, expertise and country specific case-studies and diverse approaches.
