Global Space Law Project

Technical Advisory Mission to Singapore

7-9 October 2025

From 7 to 9 October 2025, the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), in collaboration with the Office for Space Technology and Innovation (OSTIn), delivered the Space Law Technical Advisory Mission to Singapore under UNOOSA's Global Space Law Project. The three-day in-person mission was designed to address key legal and policy issues shaping contemporary space governance, focusing on the obligations under the United Nations treaties on outer space and on approaches to drafting and implementing national regulatory frameworks. The mission featured in-depth discussions on fundamental principles of international space law and the key elements of national space legislation. A central highlight of the mission was an interactive scenario-based exercise, which provided participants with a hands-on opportunity to apply international legal principles to a fictional scenario, fostering reflection on implementation challenges and practical solutions. The mission brought together more than 55 participants from across government institutions, industry, and academia. International experts from Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Liechtenstein, New Zealand, Portugal, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom joined in person and virtually, sharing their expertise, national experiences, and comparative approaches.
