Puebla, Mexico, where the team lives, is surrounded by volcanoes, an active volcano named "Popocatépetl" has shown an increase in its activity since December 1994 and more than once the cities of Puebla and Mexico have been covered with ash from small eruptions. This 1U CubeSat "Gxiba" is to observe active volcanoes in Mexico and analyze the ash dispersion which may suggest that a local population be alerted that surround the vicinity of the volcano. The development of the CubeSat will be carried out mainly by students of the aerospace engineering program. This project is also intended to motivate future generations, strategically disseminating advances in all media impacting industry, academia and government.
