Topic 3: Guidance Document on the Legal Framework for Space Activities

The Working Group presented in 2022 the document " Bringing the benefits of space to all countries: a guidance document on the legal framework for space activities " to the Legal Subcommittee as its final report under thematic priority 2 for the fiftieth anniversary of the first United Nations Conference on the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UNISPACE+50), entitled "Legal regime of outer space and global governance: current and future perspectives". The  Guidance Document  contains  an overview of the legal regime governing outer space and the interconnection of substantive areas in the application and implementation of the legal regime of outer space. It aims to assist States as they carry out activities in the exploration and peaceful uses of outer space, highlights the benefits that the outer space treaties provide for States that are not yet carrying out space activities, and aims to assist States in their consideration of acceding to the outer space treaties.
